Chasing Waterfalls- The Hidden Falls

Updated: Dec 25, 2020

Hello Readers - this was long due and should have com out at least a couple of weeks back. This is in continuation to my earlier blog - Chasing Waterfalls - Dhab Dhabi Waterfalls; so in case you have not read that, do read that blog before going through this episode.

By the time we had trekked our way back to our motorcycles from the beautiful Dhabi Dhabi Falls, it was almost 12:30 PM. A Gujarati Family who was also a visitor to this place offered us lunch for all the help we provided them from and to the falls and after much resistance we finally gave in to their request. The lunch was scrumptious and after an hour of lunch break, we finally parted ways - our initial plan was to travel back home.

As we started riding back, I realized that my fellow rider had slowed down and was in conversation with another person who seemed to be a local. Initially I thought that they must have got into some argument as their conversation was taking way too long - I decided to ride back towards them only to find that this person was local to the area and he was insisting that we should definitely not leave the place after visiting Malla Falls which was around 3 - 4 kms from where we stopped. The guy introduced himself as Narasimha and he worked for Public Health Department.

I initially hesitated as I had plans to reach by 1:30 PM which already got delayed and then I did not want to delay further, however after much thought we decided to check out the place. Narasimha seemed to be quite a helpful person as he insisted that he will take us to this place.

We rode together for another kilometer or so and then finally took a route that took us through dense and narrow forests and I must say that this was one of the best experiences of the ride with the Himalayan in its home turf. We finally came to a stop and Narsimha told us that we will have to track downhill from here towards the falls.

We went deeper into the forests and further downhill - the trek looked easy initially but then I knew that coming back would be the hardest as I had also pulled a leg muscle and it would create problems later on, but then after coming this far I had no intentions of turning back. We were finally greeted by a lovely sight and because it was located deep inside the forest, there were very few tourists coming in - thus the place retained its natural beauty without the usual litter that you typically find in other places.

All one could hear was the rustling of the leaves as the breeze blew across, birds chirping and the water flowing - just the perfect place to wind away and let go of all your worries and stress. We decided to halt here for sometime and immerse ourselves in the beautiful sight and sounds that this place had to offer - I definitely needed it because the way back to the top would not have been easy for me.

For a moment I felt the time stood still only to realize that we had spent almost close to an hour at this location. With a heavy heart we bid adieu to this lovely place and started our climb back to the spot where our motorcycles were parked. We thanked Narasimha, who took time out of his schedule to share with us this lovely located and finally parted ways with a promise to come back again and explore this place more.

We rode back through the beautiful State Highway 4 surrounded by farms on either side and must have covered almost 60 kms from the falls when a beautiful sight captured my eyes. Old habits die hard and yet again, I decided to take this quick detour and explore this place - Bomraspet Lake. It was almost 4:30 PM by the time we had reached this place and we still had to cover another 100 kms to reach home.

By the time we left this place it was almost 5 PM - with the sun setting in and a cool breeze blowing, the ride back was quite pleasant - we stopped for a quick Chai Break and reach Hyderabad around 7 PM.

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend - I stayed home as I was nursing a lower back injury and it would take me some more time before I hit the roads again!

As usual before I end this blog, I would request everyone not to litter and leave every place better for our future generations to be also able to enjoy the beauty that these places have to offer.

Travel Tips: Carry sufficient water as well as food as there is nothing close by - and ensure to carry a garbage bag to ensure that you do not leave the waste and litter behind.
